How do I find the right mount?

People talk a lot about rifles and scopes, but far too little about the mount – however, it is also an elementary component for a functioning and, above all, precise setup.

DChoosing the right scope mount takes a little preparation, but if you follow the points listed here, you too will find the perfect mount for your purpose.

First, you need to take a close look at the rifle and also the scope:

For the rifle, here's what you need to find out:

  • Which rail is installed: Picatinny/Weaver or prism rail?
  • Are there "obstacles" such as an interruption of the rail for the magazine?
  • Is the rail already tilted?

You need following specifications of the scope:

  • What is the diameter of the center tube?
  • What is the diameter of the lens?
  • What is the overall length of the scope?

Once you have these specifications, you can narrow down the selection here in the mounts section by using the filters on the left side until the mounts that are suitable for you remain.

For one-piece mounts, you have to make sure that the center tube of your scope is long enough to accommodate the mostly 4.7” (120mm) long one-piece mounts.

If you choose a scope here in the store, you will be recommended at least one suitable mount. You just need to know if your air rifle has a Picatinny/Weaver or prism rail for mounting.

It can always happen that you’ll find several suitable mounts in different quality and price ranges.

We recommend for high-quality rifles and scopes the mounts from Sportsmatch UK. By using the best screws and materials and extremely precise workmanship, these ensure an optimal fit as well as a proper attachment of your scope even with rifles with greater recoil.

In the following video AirGhandi shows how to attach the mount to the scope. He also elaborates on the most important points for selecting the correct mount:
