The AEA Megalodon is the successor to the widely popular Challenger. It features an 8-shot magazine (rubber balls in .50 caliber) and reloads via a “pump action” mechanism. The F-Version is limited to 7.5 joules of power.
The reliable pump action system allows for 8 shots to be fired in under 6 seconds. Another unique feature of the Megalodon is its two air cartridges. The rear cartridge (part of the stock) can be changed under pressure, while the front cartridge serves as a “plenum,” ensuring very consistent shot output.
Scope of delivery:
- two magazines
- a fill adapter for standard PCP pumps and compressors (minimum filling pressure of 250 bar)
- 22mm Picatinny rail for mounting compatible scopes or red dot sights
- Export kit, consisting of:
- a "card" with a 12mm hole instead of the standard 0.9mm hole
- a tube insert, which can replace the regulator in the rear cartridge
Possession of the export kit is legal in Germany; however, installation requires a permit. With this permitted modification, the weapon can achieve muzzle energy up to 600 joules with .50 caliber lead projectiles. Alternatively, the regulator can remain in use, reducing maximum projectile energy (between 100 and 500 joules depending on chosen regulator pressure) while increasing the number of shots per air fill and keeping energy output constant (as long as there is sufficient pressure in the system).
